First of all: I'm glad to have discovered this forum, wish you all a great 2005.

Here's te question:

I've been using Filemaker since Filemaker II and I'm used to upgrading each time there's a new version.

No problem putting it on my dual 1,25 G4 I guess.

But what about my iBook G3 500Mhz?

That I use probably more than my G4 and I was not planning to throw out.

I'm using Classic on that one, afraid that Panther (let alone Jaguar) would make it collapse...

Now, if I move to 7, what's gonna happen?

Will it be able to run

I have Panther with FM7 installed on my iBook 500, and it works fine. It's slower, but it works. You pretty much need at least 256MB RAM, so you should be fine.

Actually, my iBook 600Mhz (640MB RAM) runs better and quicker in Panther than it did in Jaguar or 10.1. Panther uses roughly 190 MB of RAM to run on most machines. With 384 MB, you should be quite OK. FMP7 is just as quick as on my desktop G4. But I don't have any huge databases, either.

Thx.

Guess I'll be moving to 7 shortly.
