Chris Good Posted January 15, 2005 Posted January 15, 2005 I have about 100 db's and just upgraded to FM server 7 and pro 7. I want all of the users to only have data entry access, and they can all use the same password. But I also use the username in filemaker to determine who entered test in some fields so the usernames need to be unique. Is there any way I can set up an account that will accept any username as long as the password entered it correct? The prolem is I have some turnover in staff and if I have to modify the security settings on each file every time I have a new person start it's going to take me forever. I also have Server 7 running on a windows Domain. Can I use that to simplify the security? Thanks for the help.
jonathanstark Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 Sounds like a good case for scripted account management or external authentication. It is too much to describe here, but for info on both, refer to the January 05 issue of FileMaker Advisor - there is a good article in there by Steven Blackwell and Wim Decorte.
