deego55 Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 Sorry if this sounds totally naive! I created a recipe database that I would like to share with friends. Is it possible to covert the database to a stand alone utility so that they will not need Filemaker to view it? I know I can export to html, but I would like to retain the functionality and layout of filemaker (searching, sorting, etc.). There is no need for them to add information, but I would like them to view it as it is designed in FM. I cannot really web-publish it becasue the machine FM is on is not always running. Is my thinking way off base? Thanks for any help!
Newbies omarchavez Posted January 17, 2005 Newbies Posted January 17, 2005 Not really. The only thing you need is the FileMaker Developer tool. Then all you do is compile and and executable file that will open in any computer without them having to have Filemaker installed will be created (more accuretly, the compiler emmbeds a run-time engine of FileMaker into the application), you then distribute this executable to your friends via CD-ROM, e-mail, USB Disk or whatever method you prefer.
