Is there any way of defining the type of relationship I want rather than the one Filemaker pro decides on? I expect there is a rhyme or reason as to why it defaults to the one it does but I can't see it! In one relationship graph it drew a one to many relationship and in another it insists on having a many to many relationship. I keep redrawing it in the vain hope it will change its mind!

Well it isn't a many2many but just a bidirectional one, that can be made to behave as a many2many provided one of the keys are compounded via pilcrows "
