Filemaker Server 5.5 and XML

I know that FileMaker comes with the great ability to be able to send and recieve xml. PHP has the ability to send XML. With FX.PHP it is possible to connect PHP with FileMaker. I'm, however, not sure if FX.PHP requires a FileMaker server. This should not be a problem to me IF Filemaker Server 5.5 has the ability to send and recieve xml.

I am a newbie to Filemaker and have not yet been able to find any info on this.

The set up I am using: i have a MySQL database which i want to connect to a Filemaker 6 Unlimited database (to keep them both in sync with eachother).

What i am asking:

- Has Filemaker 6 Unlimited the ability to send recieve xml?

- If so: does it have the ability to send/recieve it standalone or does it need a FM server?

- If it does: is Filemaker Server 5.5 sufficient for this task?

- If Filemaker 6 Unlimited is not able to send/recieve xml, which version is? And does that version need a Filemaker Server (which version)?

Maybe this is a better question: what versions of Filemaker and/or Filemaker Server do I need to sync my MySQL database with Filemaker?

Once again, I am new to Filemaker, hopefully somebody can point me in the right direction.

Many thanks in advance.

FMS 5.5 is not required. In fact, FMS does not really help. FMU provides the XML capability as part of the web publishing feature.
