SORT by clicking on field title???

Featured Replies

HELP!! I had used FM for 2 years before I stumbled across this little time-saver, now I can't find it again.

I want to click on the title of my field and have the column auto-sort. This MUST be an easy, basic task, but I've spent the last 2 hours with the FM book in my lap, and the onscreen help open......I gotta tell you -- it's NO help.

Errr, unless I have missed something use scripts to perform the necessary sorts, and make the field titles into buttons that run the scripts when clicked.

It wasn't a script..... it was a super-simple 1 or 2 step process, which I THOUGHT I would remember since it was so easy.....!

In 5.0 this is an option with column layout.

GREAT!! That's exactly what I was looking for! Now, one little problem, in layout I selected all the field headers at once and formatted the sorting. Now I can't click on a single field in layout - one click selects all the fields. I went back to the sorting format window and there is no option to "undo".

For those of you who want this sort feature (which is a real timesaver), here is the process:

In layout mode: Go to FORMAT >> BUTTON >> SORT/FIND/PRINT >> and select 'sort'. Check the box that says 'perform without dialog'.

Ungroup the labels, which will disable the button, then select each individually to create the button.
