FM7_non-refreshing Portals?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I had an idea that in FM7, Portals would no longer be 'refreshed' so that we would no longer have to go through hoops to force Portal Rows to maintain their positions in the Portal.

I'm currently altering a Layout and implementing a 'Go To Record' script from a Portal and the Portal is refreshing back to zero each time, which is pretty annoying.

Is there some way of implementing this 'feature'? I note that even clicking outside a Portal causes it to 'zero' back to the top?

(I know how to work around the problem, so no need to spend time answering that aspect).

Thanks,

Grant

In FM7:

Go to the layout mode in the layout your portal is located, choose Layout Setup and uncheck "Show field frames when record is active". This will cause the portal to maintain it's scroll position until a screen refresh is done. I guess this is what you're looking for...

I've just updated fm7 server version 3 and it doesn

Portal is refreshed again and it backs to first row,...

i have exactly the same problem, once you get out of the portal and you click somewhere else, the portal you had selected scrolls back to the first row. So if you have a portal displaying a maximum of 5 rows and you scroll down to the 25th RR. You lose your scrolling posistion as soon as you click out of the portal.

This did not happen when I had unchecked the "show field frames when record is active" check box in layout setup menu. BUT, Since i last updated to FileMaker Server v7.03 this happens with that check box checked or unchecked.

Please, If you are experiencing this anoying behaviour too and you find out how to solve it working in remote against a FMServer v7.03 post how you do it here.
