Font problem introduced by FM 7.0v3 update

Featured Replies

The latest FM update now pastes styled text (with font, size, etc.) into text fields along with text. Unfortunately, I almost never want to preserve font and text style when I paste stuff into a database. How can I set up a layout to disregard any font or text style and use the field's defaults settings?

Alternatively, how can I strip out font and text style or execute the paste command so that font and text style don't get into the database in the first place?

Thx,

Chuck Henebry

Yes, in FM7, style is included in text pasted from other apps.

Here's a couple ways to get rid of the style:

1. Hold the option key down as you paste. This will paste without style.

2. Add this auto-entered calc to the field definition:

Evaluate(Quote(Field))

This will reset the style for any text inserted into the field to the default.

Thanks for the tip, Ender! Holding down "option" isn't so hard. Wish that worked in MS Word!

And thanks especially for bringing the "Evaluate" function to my attention! That will really simplify a few things for me. As a beginner (and an amateur) I really appreciate your help.

Chuck
