I purchased a package from www.databasepros.com and was given a master password which I cannot use. How do I configure FileMaker to use a master password?

Does this password apply to all files on the system, or just to the ones that I downloaded?

The account name when I attempt to log onto the fresh copy of the files shows as my name ... is this picked up from the operating system?

I've looked in the User Manual, but it does not appear to discuss administrative functions. Is there a separate manual for that?

launch the database with option key held down. You will be prompted for

User: try "admin" here (or any Username provided by DBpro) and

Password: This is where your MasterPassword has to go.

Delete any garbage (like currently active MacOS X user) in the "User" field.

If you converted the db from v 6, then MasterPassword and User are same.

The problem is that DatabasePros did not tell me which user name to use. When I try Admin with their password, it will not accept the password. And I know of no other way to see what users are defined for their file.

Christian,

Ok ... forget that ... I discovered that they used the name DatabasePros as the account name ... I should have thought of that earlier

Thanks
