Hi, I'm a very new user. I have a flat file database that works well but would like to go the next step and automate some processes. I am a stumped with the problem below! I have no experience with relating info. I am trying to develop the dbase so that i can relate an individuals lists of subject (codes) taken and automate the insertion of a field next to it with their corresponding subject name. The database has the following Files & Fields

1. Enrol ID , Name , Subject code 1 , Subject code 2 , Subject code 3 etc

2. Subject code , Subject name, Unit value

Can anybody give me a clue as to what is the best way to relate these files so that i can produce a 3rd file with

Enrol ID, Name, Sub code 1, subject 1 name, sub code 2, subject 2 name etc

Any ideas greatly appreciated,

Also are their any good sources of tutorials for writing scripts or doing calculations either in books or on disk?

As far as books go, "Using Filemaker 7: Special Edition" by Lane, Bowers, Love, and Moyer comes highly recommended, and has helped me a lot.
