Newbies drose408 Posted April 7, 2005 Newbies Posted April 7, 2005 I am currently running Server 7 Advanced on a Windows 2003 server. when I try to log into the database over the internet, I have no luck when using a user name and password. When I activate the guest account, I can get logged in, but it does not ask me for a password. How do I set it up so that it will ask me for a password? Thanks.
Larry Schroeder Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 In my book this is a bug in the iwp implementation of the login. You have to turn off the built in guest account. Then the login screen will appear every time. To work around you could establish a user guest with a password of guest that has the equavalent privledges of the guest account. But you would need to tell the potential guest guest. Hopefully this will be fixed in a future revision. I don't think 7.0v3 server or advance fixed this.
Newbies Tophdog Posted April 8, 2005 Newbies Posted April 8, 2005 We're having the same problem. We are running FMSA (7.0v3) on a Win 2003 Standard virtual server, with external authentication enabled (against Microsoft Active Directory) and IIS 6.0. We are creating local groups on the server and adding the AD users to those groups; then adding those groups to the FM databases and assigning those groups privilege sets w/i the database. We also enabled encryption via SSL and generated a server certificate. When I try to log into the sample config db via web browser from a remote client (with the guest access TURNED OFF), I get a uname/password prompt. When I put in a correct username and pwd combination, the dialog pops back up and fills in the IP address of the server machine as the "domain" for the user (e.g. 000.00.000.000username). Putting in the AD domain preceding the username (e.g. ADusername) doesn't work either. We're not sure if this is an SSL problem. IWP is enabled for the db in question and my user account is assigned Full Access Privilege (and Full Access has the web extended privilege assigned). Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks!
KingsPCTech Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 I've had similar difficulties logging into known accounts. See my post called "IWP login difficulties" in the Instant Web Publishing (IWP) section under the Publishing Filemaker Online banner. Hope it helps.
