Newbies linkhunter Posted April 10, 2005 Newbies Posted April 10, 2005 I'm trying to create a 3 level type selection process... Choose the Type of Business...then a corresponding Category... then a sub-category corresponding to the Category... ie - Service - Administrative - Data Entry Thanks to LiveOak I managed to get the Type and Category working okay, but when I try to set up the sub-category field it displays all subcategories as opposed to just the ones related to the Category chosen..I've selected the option to "include only related" when setting up the value list... Any idea what I've done wrong? ~ Julia
Himitsu Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 Well, this one I have done a lot with... and I love them now... but I still think they seem to be backwards... what you have to do is create a relationship that is equal to both category and type. You can name the occurance something that you can remember... then create the valuelist using that occurance, and then going to the table you want to see only the related items. Does that make any sense? On the category table, you should have a field that autoenters the type and not a calculation. Also, the subcategory needs to have a unique ID and name.
overrider Posted April 12, 2005 Posted April 12, 2005 i think this is what you are looking for, see the attachment. it contains one table where all the categories are specified like (categorie1 --> categorie2 --> categorie3) and another table called items which uses these values via relationships and valuelists. there might be better ways to do this, but this is how i did it and i did not have any problems yet. the uid and password admin example.fp7.zip
Newbies linkhunter Posted April 18, 2005 Author Newbies Posted April 18, 2005 Thanks for all the help everyone... It still isn't working right, and I'm not sure what I've done wrong... I think it's something really simple and I'm missing it. If anyone has a sec to troubleshoot it I'd really appreciate it... Thanks for your time... ~ Julia MeetingGuideCopy.zip
