FileMaker server not shown in "Local Servers"

Featured Replies

I've installed FileMaker Server 7v3 and FileMaker Pro 7v3 on seperate dedicated machines. When I start FileMaker Pro and go to open -> remote, nothing is displayed in the Local Servers list. Both machines are installed on the same subnet, so no routers or what-so-ever are causing problems here. Very strange, as I've talked to another FileMaker person and he said to me that this happened in his environment too, but there it displays the FileMaker Server from time to time.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I haven't been able to fix this problem, but I've found that specifying your server with an IP address will work consistently.

Is the server Windows XP? If so, is it Service Pack 2? If so, have you made sure the Windows Personal Firewall is not restricting access to port 5003?

Likewise for the workstation. Turn the firewall off for testing.

HTH,

Jerry
