Find request on value list/repeating field

Featured Replies

I have been tracking donations in a set of repeating fields (date, amount of payment, type of campaign, etc)

for the type of campaign i have set up a value list. individuals can donate to more than one campaign so have a lot of folks who have a number of different items in the repeating fields. how do i perform a find request on only one type of campaign without having the other types show up in the found set?

ultimately, i want to be able to do caluculations or summaries on how much money has come in from each different campaign in the value list but when i do a find on people who donated to one of the campaigns it also displays any other campaign they donated to. how can i do a summary only one type of campaign in the value list?

thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

You'll need to dump the repeating fields method and use related records and a portal instead.

Once you use related records EVERYTHING will seem so much easier to do. Summaries, totals, counts, reports. Easy with related records.

well that was my initial plan--to work w/related fields in a portal but i came up with a problem when i tried to create the value list. i posted to this list and someone told me that what i was trying to do was difficult in version 4 but i don't have an option to upgrade. so i decided to go back to using repeating fields. sigh. i will try to do the portal/related fields thing again and see if i can come up with a way around the value list thing.....

thanks!
