Validation Script

I am very new to File Maker Pro, I am trying to initiate a script automatically from a field

Well, Crafty Coyote,

There *is* one thing that you forgot to include in your post.

A question. shocked.gif

However, I have a vague sense that the question you might have hoped to have answered is something like 'is there a way to have the calculation field cause the script to run'.

That being the case, the answer is no, not natively - and yes, if you are prepared to install a third-party plug-in.

There are a number of such plug-ins available. Some are shareware and a couple are free. If you want to check out the free ones, you might like to visit:

John Kornkaus - zippScript

Softwares for Humans - EventScript

Alternatively, if you're prepared to pay a shareware registration fee, you will find some very compelling and powerful products that provide this capability and more from:

New Millennium Communications - MenuMagic

Troi Automatisering - Activator

CNS - SCRIPTit

There are other products out there, but the above includes a number of the best known and most widely used.
