I am very new to File Maker Pro, I am trying to initiate a script automatically from a field

There *is* one thing that you forgot to include in your post.

A question.

However, I have a vague sense that the question you might have hoped to have answered is something like 'is there a way to have the calculation field cause the script to run'.

That being the case, the answer is no, not natively - and yes, if you are prepared to install a third-party plug-in.

Thanks you for your patients, I am very new to this and you are correct in what I am looking for. someway to trigger a script in a field calculation. I will try these and let you know how they work. Thanks
