jtscott Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 I have the following layout which I want to print: SUBHEADING (from repeating field line 1) COMMENT FIELD 1 SUBHEADING (from repeating field line 2) COMMENT FIELD 2 SUBHEADING (from repeating field line 3) COMMENT FIELD 3 Sometimes a subheading and its corresponding comment field is empty. I therefore want to slide the fields below it up to eliminate the space, but this doesn't seem to move them up as I want. Each of the comment fields is a separate field, but the 3 subheadings represent different lines in the same repeating field and this seems to be the source of the problem. I've thought of concatenating all the fields into one calculated text field, but that's a bit cumbersome and is not sliding things as I want to do. Any solutions? Many thanks in advance.
BrentHedden Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 I'm not aware of any way to make the Header part itself 'slide' according to the fields inside of it. You could probably make the fields inside the header slide, but if they do, then you've got a gap inbetween the header parts and the body, or whatever is the next part.
jtscott Posted April 28, 2005 Author Posted April 28, 2005 Sorry - use of the word "HEADER" in my earlier post was confusing and I've amended it now. All the fields are in a body part, but it's just that when a repeating field is set to display only one of its repetitions, it won't slide properly. Is this a "known issue"? I can't see it in any documentation.
BrentHedden Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 I've found the sliding feature to be ok at best. It sometimes yields unusual or unwanted results, even after I know I've set it up correctly. I'm not aware of any problems with sliding repeating fields, although to be quite honest, I've never tried to do so.
