I posted this in the Sample forum, and per Fenton I am copying it here with an explanation.

(Fenton,

option 1 is most likely what I would do. However I am using Fm pro 6 with FM server 5,

I desperately need to get this to work. I have all our files (over 40,000 pdf's) located on an old os 9 because this script:

Set Field ["GBl*Resume Url", "http://(IP addres of os 9 computer) /" & Right Applicant ID.] & "/" & Applicant ID & ".PDF""]

open URL [no dialog, "GBL*Resume URL"]

does not work f using the ip address of our g4 which hosts out FM server 5

i have no idea about applescripts and would need it watered down and explained in detail.

I'm tired of using the os 9 computer just for these files, and I want to host everythign on the g4)

Essentially, what I need is this:

I need step by step instructions to be able to:

1. use a container field to view a resume that matches the record ID (all our PDF resumes are saved acording to the record numer in FM pro 6)

2: I need to be able to open this resume when we double click on the container field

3. I need to know how to write the script to do this, and find the correct resume PDF in a folder on the desktop that hosts our FM 5 server.

I have no idea how to write an apple script, and very limited experience with Scriptmaker.

Currently the resumes are being held on an old iMac with os9 and I cannot use the current script (which is listed above) with osx, for some reason, even if i put the folder into the sites folder, enable web sharing, and change the IP address to that of the G4, it won't find and open the PDF resume.

thanks for you help, if I can get this to work it means one less computer on my desk.
