FIlemaker server or Microsoft exchange or the like

Featured Replies

I am trying to determine whether I can support all of our companies needs with FM7 (server) instead of using Microsoft exchange, meeting maker or the like. So any input is appreciated.

We need to track several things including, events, inventory, groups, members, assets, resources, provide room scheduling etc. We do not need Microsoft exchanges email capabilities as we are hosted externally and meeting maker is web only. I do not want to have several apps for folks to track all of this. i know many of these items are easily accomplished in FMP, but the calendar aspect escapes me.

Any thoughts?

Thank you!

You might want to check out the series of videos on creating a scheduling application on filemakermagazine.com There are also a few other calendering apps out there from:

cleveland consulting (basic version is free with access to source code)

productive computing (not free but the demo looks good)

To add room scheduling to a calendar, you just need to use relationships check for conflicts.
