Multiple page layouts for text fields

Hi there

I am trying to find a way to output continuation pages where necessary from my database, where I am importing into a text field and I'm am very stuck!

My layout contains just a text field. But the amount of text in this field changes depending on how much text I may choose to include. How do I make a page layout that will resize to fit the number of pages and hence the line breaks required depending on the length of text on the page?

I know that you can just setup a layout with your text field so it is say three pages deep. But the problem then is that the text will not start at the correct place on page 2. And you have to enter the layout in browse mode and put in extra carriage returns to get the letter text to appear in the right place.

Thanks for all your help!

About all you can do is set Sliding Up and check the "Also reduce size of enclosing part" box.

You could try merge fields.

If all else fails use a word processor.

Thanks so much, and sorry it took so long to thank you! This is a real bugbear for us in our solution. Clients want 1pp, 2pp 3pp letters and there just doesn't seem an easy answer to the problem, without forcing them to enter a text field and adding paragraph returns to make the text fall in the right place...

thanks again

Can't the clients designate where they want page breaks with a text placeholder such as ***pagebreak***? Then when importing the text create a seperate record for each occurence of ***pagebreak***.
