November 29, 200124 yr Newbies I cannot seem to insert text into a concatenation field. Whenever I try to use quotation marks to contain the text I want inserted, I get the error message that a field name is expected in place of the quotation. What am I doing wrong?

November 29, 200124 yr Single quotes should be OK. Are you typing in curly quotes? I think FMP needs "straight" quotes: use the "" button to insert them rather than typing them in by hand.

I think I misread the earlier question, thinking this was a situation where quotes needed to be escaped. Thanks for catching that error. Old Advance Man
December 3, 200124 yr Author Newbies Thanks for all the thoughtful responses. It turned out to be pilot error. I have a program (control panel) called Smart Keys that does some nice things like puttimg em dashes into text. Unfortunately, is also did something to quotes, like doubling them. When I shut that off, all was well.
