Example.Open embedded container file with script.

Uses Batch file so possibly windows only, attached file is fmp7.

NO PLUGIN REQUIRED!

1. Filename obtained from embedded file via calc on the container.

2. Push Open button runs a script that-

Exports file using a generic name, a batch scipt file is created and then run that changes file to original filename. File is then opened via an open url script.

1 Button, no user input.

WARNING- one downside is that it will not open files that have a space in their filename.

INPUT on this would be good if there is a work around.

opencontainer.zip

I have not checked your example file as I am wary to open attachments. However, if your file is embedded as a reference in a container then the container should show the file as an icon. Double-clicking on the icon opens the file in its associated application.

Referenced and embedded are different, referenced is where filemaker places a shortcut inside the container field and the actualfile is located elsewhere.

embedded is where the file is held within the database itself, these files can not be double clicked on to open they need to be exported, this requires a lot of user input and difficult to script without having a plugin.

the above is a work around for this.

ps zip file only contains 1 file that is an fmp7 file. virus check it to confirm :-)
