In FM, if you import a file reference into a container field, you can double click on the container (MAC) and the file reference will open. If it is a PDF file, it will open in acrobat. If a photoshop file, it will open in photoshop, etc.

True. That's because of the general principle that scripts over-ride layout field behavior settings, whereas buttons are constrained by them.
