Sending email from FM 4.0 - choosing content

Hi,

I have a large database with contacts and some standard e-mails and attachments that I would like to send when I press the e-mailbutton in Filemaker. Right now a simple new blank emailmessage opens and I have to copy, paste and attach files to it. I have filemaker Pro 4.0

Is it possible that when I click on e-mail I can choose a certain textfile to be in the email and the attachment to go with it?

Thanks!

I've been trying some things; I now know how to preformat the text content of the emailmessage, but this would mean I'd have to make several buttons, which is not a solution.

I've also tried to attach a file, but it doesn't get attached somehow. It doesn't make a difference when I refer to a file on server or on my local pc.

anyone?

Hi, C! FM has mail functionality but the I think the pros all use plug-ins. FM's mail is good enough for us, though, so we've never bothered. FM4 seems to offer attachment capability, but you may have to make 1 script for each type of mailing you want to do. You don't want to make a button for each, but you don't need buttons to launch scripts... just skip 'em. Copy/paste work for each TYPE of message is better than for each MESSAGE, though, eh? You should probably have a db just for your mailings and relate them to your contacts db.

Up to you, of course, but most plug-in folks seem to be happy with them.

Good luck!
