RobertoTaglia Posted December 11, 2001 Posted December 11, 2001 SDK : FM 5.5 - Windows Hello I open a FP5 file with the "admin" password. I cannot access to the "Define Fields" menu. It is grayed. The file works fine but i cannot enter in the layout mode ? Could you tell me the way to enter in the layout mode ? Thanks
Thom Posted December 11, 2001 Posted December 11, 2001 Are you sure the password gives you full access to the file? Does a startup script run automatically when the file is opened? You can bypass the startup script if you open another file, choose Define Relationships, create a new relationship and choose the first file. You may need to hold down the SHIFT(Windows) or OPTION(Mac) key to be prompted for a password. Cancel out of everything since you don't really want to make a relationship. The file should now be open.
RobertoTaglia Posted December 11, 2001 Author Posted December 11, 2001 I thank you very much for helping me. I tried what you said and unfortunately, the password is not the good one to enter in a layout mode. It is very funny, someone gave me this file with the "admin" password and this password does not permit to enter in the layout mode. Thank you.
Steven H. Blackwell Posted December 11, 2001 Posted December 11, 2001 Two things could be happening here. First, the master password could have become corrupted. This was known to happen in FMP 4. Second, the "admin" poassword may not be the master password. There is a difference. HTH Old Advance Man
The Bridge Posted December 12, 2001 Posted December 12, 2001 It is also possible that the database has been bound by FileMaker Developer with the option "Prevent Modification of Database Structure", in which case both Define Fields and Layout Mode will be disabled.
RobertoTaglia Posted December 12, 2001 Author Posted December 12, 2001 The game was a litle tricky by my customer. The "admin" password was not the one which gives all accesses to the layout mode. Thanks to all of you.
