May 20, 200520 yr I have an xServe G5 running OS X 10.3.8 Server. I have FileMaker Server 7v3 installed on this xServe, and I want to make FileMaker Server accessible to my LAN, but not to my WAN. I am running OS X Server's firewall, and have been unable to open TCP port 5003 (FileMaker's port) correctly for LAN traffic. I know that the FM Server is working, because I can connect from my LAN just fine when I turn the FireWall off (using the LAN IP). In OS X Server's FireWall, I click on Settings, then Advanced, and click "plus." I entered the following: Action: Allow Protocol: TCP Service: Other Under Source, I entered: Address: 192.168-net (for the LAN) Port: 5003 Under Destination, I entered: Address: 192.168-net Port: 5003 Interface: IN I click save, then I stop and start the FireWall service. I test from a FileMaker Pro 7 client, and have no luck. I turn off the firewall, and boom, I can connect. On a test server, I used Brickhouse, and was successful at adding a port 5003, which allows me to connect from FileMaker Pro 7. However, once I did that, it now takes me 10 minutes to connect to the test server via Server Admin (even when I run server admin on that test server), so I am hesitant to use Brickhouse on my production server. The settings described above, BTW, are identical to the setting Brickhouse inserted into my test server's firewall.... I did NOT reboot the xServe after creating these filters, but I did stop and start the Firewall service. I also repaired the permissions. Any ideas?
