Strange thing going on. My DB window starts up maximized. When I write a script to pop-up a new window (and define it to any size other than maximized) BOTH the orginal window and the new window resize when invoked?

The user closes the popup window when done with it and the original window stays small. Any idea why this is happening? Seems like a bug or glitch in FM Pro 7?

If I never spawn a new window I am fine but takes away from the beauty of the DB. Also, this did not happen for the first week of programming. It started for no apparent reason shortly thereafter and remains. No new scripts were added to the mix that might have caused this.

Any ideas?

I have already applied the 7.0 version 3 update to no avail.

It's not a glitch... it's the behavior of a windows application that only one window can be maximized, and when that's the case only one window can be visible. This is not an issue on the Mac, since there is no application window, but what I've done for windows people is to design the system never to maximize windows. You lose a bit more space since you have to have two title bars, but you can have popup windows that look much better.

Is the previous really the only answer to this problem? Are there any windows people out there who have another solution. THis problem has really been bothering me. I want to have my main db maximized and then open reports in a new smaller window. I really need a work around since the people using my db are not very computer literate. If they lose their main window behind the report window they will get lost! Please help.

Thanks to Reed for the help. I was just struggling with the same issue, porting my mac-designed DB to a windows machine for the first time.

The solution I ended up with was to write a 'maximize' script. When run on a mac, it just maximizes the window, done. When run on a pc, it maximizes, saves the current window height and width to global fields, and then immediately adjusts/resizes the window to the saved dimensions. After that, all my little popups worked fine.
