current date + 30 not working

I've read a bunch of previous posts on date calculations, and thought I understood it but this is weird. I cannot get the calculated date to show up. I've tried a date field that auto enters a calculated value of "currentdate" + 30, this shows nothing. I tried ::invoicedate + 30, still nothing. I've even tried just filling it in with the creation date and that doesn't even come up. What am I doing wrong here?? All I need is the payment due by date to fill in automatically.

Make sure your field is a date field. Define the autoenter calculation as: Status(CurrentDate) + 30. You will only see a new value in the field after you create a new record.
