Cross-platform differences (Win XP/OS X)

I have been upgrading an application from FM6 to FM7 on my Mac (Tiger). However, the user is testing the application on Windows XP and there appear to be some rather bizarre differences.

One is that when he user clicks on a tab that goes to a layout (in a different UI file), that layout is initially in Find mode. However, when the user enters data into a field on the layout and hits enter to invoke the Find, the layout switches immediately to another layout (in a different UI). On the Mac it behaves correctly and stays on the layout to let the user use the data for processing.

There is also some differences in the behaviour of a plugin but that might be the fault of the plugin ... that remains to be seen. The plugin is supposed to be invoked when a change is made to particular fields. This plugin then initiates a FileMaker Script which is supposed to validate the data (there are good reasons for this!.) On the Mac an error causes a dialog box to be displayed alerting the user to the problem and then return them to the layout to fix the error. If the user does not fix the error the dialog box will come up again. This is what is supposed to happen and it works correctly on the Mac. However on Windows XP the dialog box keeps coming back as though the process of clicking Ok on the dialog box re-invokes the database validation rule which in turn invoke the script and so on ... not giving the user a chance to fix the error.

Has anyone experience with cross-platform problems such as this?
