Newbies Jason Kallen Posted June 7, 2005 Newbies Posted June 7, 2005 I have what I think is a simple question. We have a Filemaker 3.0v1 database that is password protected. We'd like non-p/w users to be able to print out the records, but not alter them. It seems like now it's all or nothing: With the p/w, you can change anything in the database; without the p/w, you can view the records but do little else. Isn't there some in-between? Can I change the p/w settings so that printing is possible for everybody, p/w or not? Thx - Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Ender Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 I believe there's separate check boxes for allowing printing and editing. You should check that these are correct in the Define Passwords dialog. Or perhaps your low level password has limited "Available menu commands." If this is the case, then you might add scripts for printing. You can attach the print scripts to buttons if you wish.
Newbies Jason Kallen Posted June 23, 2005 Author Newbies Posted June 23, 2005 Thanks for your help! I did indeed have to check a box in the password settings. The key was that our database resides on a separate Filemaker Server. I had to access the database directly from that server for it to allow me into the relevant area.
