Just wondering if Server 5.5 can run on Windows XP. I have it on 2000 but would like to know if it can work on XP. If so, would there be a limit to the amount of clients that can connect to a file or the server?

It works. I am running on 25 clients and so far no complains. But the more user you have, you will need more RAM.

Thank you for the reply. Can you tell me if you had any difficulty getting the client computers to see the host computers files. I tried it and the only way the clients can access the files is to type the IP Address of the server. The Server does not show up simply by using the "Open Remote" button.

Make sure that the FileMaker Server has a static IP address; otherwise, your clients should automatically be seen when "Open Remote" is used.

Regarding the maximum number of users, I believe it is 125 for FileMaker Server 5.5. You can change the number of concurrent users allowed in the Server's preferences dialog...

FM Server 5.5 can accommodate 250 guests (but whether the network and cpu can handle the load is another issue).

FMS 5.5 can host 125 files.
