FM Server 6 for Win 2003?

Featured Replies

Does anyone have any info on a version of FMP Server (I think version 6) that runs on Windows 2003? I called FileMaker directly, but they've told me I must upgrade to FM Server7 if we upgrade our server to 2003. I heard from a vendor that there is a version of server, called FileMaker Server (?no version) that works on Win 2003 (for fmp 6 files). I guess FileMaker.com is pushing people to upgrade to 7 which isn't necessary just yet.

I can't find any info on this, but we need to research and probably purchase this version of FM server.

TIA,

Heather

The last version of FMS was 5.5. The reason Filemaker is telling you to upgrade is because they aren't selling 5.5 anymore. You will probably have to find someone willing to sell their copy (ie eBay). I know that FMS 5.5 runs on 2000 Server, haven't had a need to run it on a Win 2K3 machine as yet, but it should work.

We already have Server 5.5. I heard that there was one other step up from that, which will work on WinServer2003. Thanks anyway.

I having a performance problem when I configure FMS 5 on Windows 2003, it is very very slow. Does anyone know how to fix it? Thanks a lot.
