June 20, 200520 yr I have a found set on tableinstanceA that I'd like to also have on tableinstanceB. To be clear, they are the same base table. is there a good way to do this?
June 21, 200520 yr The easiest way to do it is to use the Go To Related Record [] script step. If you target it to only show related records in the same table ocurrence, but show records using a layout from the other TO, the found set will basically be transferred to the new layout(TO) I got this technique from "Special Edition: Using Filemaker 7" Dana
June 21, 200520 yr Author Wow, now that is interesting. It does take me to the correct layout, and to the record from the found set on the previous layout/table. And one call sets the entire found set on the second occurance. Awesome tip!
June 21, 200520 yr The 'Goto Related Record' step has always been a good one, and is even better now with FM7. Like Reed had somewhat mentioned - that Special Edition book takes something like 5 pages just to explain it, because of the complexity you can get yourself into with this powerful step.
