I am trying to find a combination of a database program and another program that I can use to make a

shopping cart, e-commerce web site. Obviously, I am new to e-commerce. But I have several clients that want this type of website and I was told that FileMaker was not a good choice for a database app.

in the "shopping cart" situation. Is this true?

Any advise would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

BWallace

I wouldn't see why FM would be a "poor choice" for a shopping cart solution. What really matters is the web programming itself. I built a basic cart design using ASP scripting and FM7, using ODBC commands for a college class once. For an actual site, I wouldn't recommend ASP, since there seems to be no support in integrating it with FileMaker (typical Microsoft thinking) and it's slow, although it does work. With a bit of learning (I suppose), you could use XSLT which is much faster. Either way, be prepared to dig into some books and/or classes before doing any actual programming.
