Newbies CKlein Posted January 31, 2002 Newbies Posted January 31, 2002 Trying to find out if Filemaker 5.5 supports double byte (Unicode) character values for textfields. We have an application that will need to support European, English and Chinese speaking clients. Thanks for any info. CK
d94dsj Posted February 6, 2002 Posted February 6, 2002 Unfortunately, it doesn't. But I've heard that FM will have Unicode support in a later version of FileMaker. I don't know when, though. /Daniel
joecollver Posted September 29, 2002 Posted September 29, 2002 I'm able to incorporate Chinese text into the solution I'm working on with fmp5.5, and the solution framework has had no problem storing Chinese in fields or lookup tables. I don't think the sort routines will work correctly, but I haven't needed that yet so no worries. What really REALLY bothers me though is using Fmpro in a Chinese version of w2k. I get all kinds of lovely surprises like unreadably small numbers in the object size tool, to text getting cut off in all the options and preferences screens I bring up. Anyone else using FMpro in a non-English operating system who knows how I might get rid of these little annoyances?
