I'm finally getting around to installing the version of Advanced that came with my Developer 7 package. Can someone please tell me what I need to purchase to upgrade it to a "full" version of Advanced? I've been looking around and, frankly, I'm confused. I'd appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction.

The Server Advanced version that comes with Developer is for setting up a test server. You would run the installer(s) on the machine(s) that you want to use to test how you want to go about the installation and use that setup to work on development of a hosted (or web hosted) solution. This is a fully working version with the exception that is limited to 3 connected clients (or sessions,) and is not licensed for deployment.

The real version of Server Advanced supports some 250 connected clients (or sessions.) To purchase this, contact FileMaker directly, or look for an authorized reseller.

I understand that the Developers version is simply for development. I'm asking if it's possible to "upgrade" that to a "full" version (with cheaper pricing), or do I have to buy a brand new copy of Advanced to put up a production site?

I'm not trying to be sneaky or anything. I'm just hoping it's possible to add licenses or something to the Developers version at a reduced cost instead of having to buy a whole brand new copy of Advanced for the production site here in-house.

I basically want to turn my developed site into an active/production site. If I do have to buy a full brand new copy of Advanced, is it possible to simply enter the Advanced serial number into my developer site to make it active, or do I actually have to install the new version? I'd like to just make the site live where it is without having to rip out the Developer version and reinstall everything from scratch.

You will have to buy the full version, but if you already own Unlimited (FM6), then there is upgrade pricing. Once you have purchased the software, you can simply change the license code in the one you have already installed.
