click pic in container to open a specific record?

I am very much a newbie to filemaker and am using the FM7 trial version at the moment. I am working on a plant (as in garden) database.

In each record there is a pic of a specific plant and various fields with information on the plant and its growing culture. There are also 2 small pics (thunbnails) that will show a couple other plants in the database that could be used in design with this plant. I want to be able to click on one of the thumbnails and have it act as a button that opens up that plant's specific record. I came across a script to.. go to a first, last, next, etc record - but couldn't find a way to go to a specific one.

Would appreciate very much your response. I have looked through the help file and I just can't seem to get this simple task figured out. confused.gif

TIA!

If your list of plants and thumbnails is in a portal, you can use the go to related record script step, using the relationship for the portal.

If your list is a layout formated as a list, you can make a layout (plant data) formated as "form' where your informations is presented, and script the button on the list layout as go to layout plant data.

Good luck,

(It's never so bad that it couldn't get worse.)

Have a look at the attached file. It might give you a start.

Forgot to mention: when you open the file select New window then choose layout "Table".

Disregard the above. It's too clumsy. The attached file uses Portals as suggested by Oldsneekers. It's also much easier to create.
