Stuck on Simple Problem...Screenshot Included!

Featured Replies

I am trying to dynamically display details (meaning in the same layout) for an item in a portal by clicking a button. It is hard to describe with words so I have included a link to a screenshot below with some notes. If anyone has a moment to look at it and tell me what I might be doing wrong that would be just awesome. Thanks so much. http://homepage.mac.com/tjwett/screenshot.gif

TJWett:

You might consider doing it this way: Have a field in your Job Tracking Table (I'll call it Temp_Issue_ID) and set your button so that when clicked, it takes the IssueID from the Brief and puts it into Temp_Issue_ID (via Set Field[], rather than via copy/paste). You can set up a relationship between the Tracking Table and the Issue Details table between Temp_Issue_ID and ISS ID, and on the right hand side of your layout, put in the related fields from that relationship. Now, when you click on a brief in the portal on the left, it would show related data on the right.

AWESOME! Thanks so much. I knew it was simple. I am still pretty new to FM which makes me overcomplicate everything in my head. This was a massive help. smile.gif
