Gabe Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 Is there a way I can create a shortcut using some kind of parameters so automatically connect to a specified server an open a specific file when FM opens? there is no way I am going to be able to teach all 10 users that they have to go to file -> open remote, etc. to get to their file maintenance.
Gabe Posted July 17, 2005 Author Posted July 17, 2005 Just to clarify, I want FM to automatically connect to the server when it starts up, open a specific file, and ask the user for their auth info. Somebody in another post suggested simply creating a shortcut to "fmnet:/192.168.1.167/new citycourt" but windows complains saying that is not a valid file name. Help!

wplate Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 I'm on a Mac, and here's how I do it: I put this into my web browser... fmp7://192.168.0.100/DatabaseFileName Then I drag the "favicon" to my desktop and the computer creates for me a shortcut file. I bet you could do this on Windows too.
