Newbies jcpo Posted July 29, 2005 Newbies Posted July 29, 2005 Has anyone figured out a way to build a 30-day trial period into a FM Pro database such that it will 1. advise the user of the remaining time, 2. disable access after the trial period is up, 3. enable access after a registration code is entered? The hard part, as I see it, is to disable access to the file but not kill it forever, so when the user registers he/she can access the data from the trial period.
Reed Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 There are a lot of threads discussing demos that are time limited, and it seems that they all have holes that can be worked around. I've found it easier to keep track of the number of launches of the file, and then disable the default account. When that account is disabled, the user will be prompted for a username/password. When they enter the information you give them after paying, the file will open under the other account, reenable the default account, and disable the subscript that disabled the demo. Do a search for +Demo +Time
