andygaunt Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 Item reviewed: Philosophy of Scripting 101 - Self paced training materials (PDF) Vendors website: http://www.databasepros.com Overall rating: 5 Paws, Nothing short of brilliant! Review by: Jeff Duck - Chapter FMPug member Check out my full review here The course is titled '101' and it does include many basics, but anytime you see, hear or read anything John Mark, there is ALWAYS something new. Even for seasoned developers. Did it meet my expectation? It exceeded them! Every DevCon, I make sure to attend every John Mark presentation and I'm never disappointed. The man is a script vaccum! He should be called the Voodoo scripter! This course is for ANYONE that uses FileMaker. Reviews are performed by FMPug members. It gives you both the philosophy, so you have an understand of what you're doing and the direction, so you know how it's done. This is a "Must ADD" to your library.

This manual has the effect of opening the shutters to let in a breathe of fresh air. John Mark points out (regularly in the text) that a user should attack the problem at hand from many directions, then choose the best approach. Continuing education is a must for developers. I believe that I am better developer as a result of this text. I give John Mark high marks for a clearly written and well presented text. If you are anything less than a "supreme developer guru" then the text is worth the price and effort. Don't miss the Philosophy of Scripting classes in early 2006.
