August 3, 200520 yr I have a windows 2003 server with 2GB of RAM. The System Administrator Tools says the maximum RAM available for FileMaker Server 7.0 is 479MB. But my cache hit is always 99% to 100% all the time. I want to lower the cache hit to 95%. I wonder how I can increase the RAM, or whether I should worry about it. Thanks in advance. Jackson
August 3, 200520 yr A cache hit of 99-100% means that the the cache is big anough as it is: no need to add more. You would *reduce* the cache size to get the hit rate down to 95%.
August 3, 200520 yr Author How do I know how much is enough? I read somewhere says RAM size of 5% of the total database size should be sufficient. But when I applied that rule and reduced the RAM size, we had problems of data not showing up. thank you. Jackson
August 3, 200520 yr Author the hit rate is always 99% -100 %, regardless I have RAM of 200 MB or 470MB. Just want to find out if it is normal. Jackson
