Newbies RobJ Posted August 3, 2005 Newbies Posted August 3, 2005 I would like to be able to output a summary report from preview mode to a text file. I have no problem printing it to a PDF file but then I have to open it in Acrobat and "Save as Text". I work on a Mac and in the old, OS 9 version of Filemaker there was a Chooser extension called Print2Text. There doesn't seem to be anything similar for OSX. Is there a Filemaker plug-in or OSX service that would work? TIA
Fenton Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 Yes, Print2Text and TextCapture FKey were great. PDF is not so easy to get the text out of. There are a couple of applications which do this, TextLightning and Trapeze, but each is about $30. I see that a new free Service is out, by Devon Technologies, which can extract text from PDFs. It requires Tiger (10.4) however (which I haven't gotten brave enough to install yet). http://www.devon-technologies.com/products/freeware/services.php
Zero Tolerence Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 You could also try Trio File plug in. It allows you to create a text file and then specify what it contains. Fairly easy and straight forward too.
Newbies RobJ Posted August 4, 2005 Author Newbies Posted August 4, 2005 Thanks for the suggestion. PDF2RTF Service actually works perfectly.
