I would like to be able to output a summary report from preview mode to a text file. I have no problem printing it to a PDF file but then I have to open it in Acrobat and "Save as Text".

I work on a Mac and in the old, OS 9 version of Filemaker there was a Chooser extension called Print2Text. There doesn't seem to be anything similar for OSX. Is there a Filemaker plug-in or OSX service that would work?

Yes, Print2Text and TextCapture FKey were great. PDF is not so easy to get the text out of. There are a couple of applications which do this, TextLightning and Trapeze, but each is about $30. I see that a new free Service is out, by Devon Technologies, which can extract text from PDFs. It requires Tiger (10.4) however (which I haven't gotten brave enough to install yet).

You could also try Trio File plug in. It allows you to create a text file and then specify what it contains. Fairly easy and straight forward too.
