I've set up a real simple report that contains a sizeable notes type field that needs to slide up when it's empty. I've done this before, and it has always worked. For this layout though, when previewed or printed, not only does it slide up, but slides up over previous records if the contained text is particularly long. I've tried both sliding to only and sliding to all above, and the slide enclosing part needs to be selected to reduce the space. Has anyone else encountered this?

Check the sliding/printing option for sliding up: it can be set to "all above" or "only directly above." Change the option and see what happens.

Alternatively, try using a text block with merge code instead of a field.

I had some troubles with that. I ended up creating one big text block and putting merge fields inside it. I think the sliding concept is designd to work with merged fields. I have never seen a field itself slide. But you also cand have test blocks stacked one atop the other. Baciscally I am agreeing with Vaughan below. TIM
