merkaba22 Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 I was recently told there was a built-in feature in FM 6 Server that could automate backups -- I don't have a copy in front of me; so I wonder if anyone could enlighten me to this feature? Does it exist? Does it exist on the Windows side? Can you target another drive on a network, etc.?
stanley Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 Merkaba22: FMS has a scheduled backups feature, which allows you to select a target and back up to it. Backing up over the network will depend on your network settings; there is definitely a caveat to that, which is that you should beware of having loose copies of your files, as someone might open one by mistake... -Stanley
merkaba22 Posted August 17, 2005 Author Posted August 17, 2005 Hey thanks Stanley! Onthe PC version, which I don't have immediate access to, where are these preferences set?
Vaughan Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 FM Server 5.5 ... there is no FMS 6. In Windows, open the Server Console program. In the left-hand panel, double-click on the FileMaker Server icon then the Schedules icon.
