I am new to filemaker and made the mistake when installing FMS7 on my tiger server, that I also installed the FMPro7 software. Evidently this is a big problem as I can't get the web sharing to work (which is our primary need for the software). This server is also our webserver, but that is on a second IP, the first is to be dedicated to FMS7. Anyway, when I wiped out the Filemaker by search and destroy, I ended up corrupting my OS X web server. Is there a better way to remove the program, such as an automated way as there would be on windows. Even a clean reinstall still has problems, and FM support led me to believe that it was becasue I installed both server and client on the same machine. Is there anything anyone would suggest?

Do you have Filemaker Server Advanced, or just Filemaker Server?

You know that you can't web publish with plain FMS...

I have FMSA installed on the same machine as FMP and FMD. I just don't try to turn on sharing on those apps, and I never open files that are opened by the server. I use FMD to run file maintenance on served files by first closing them with the server admin tool, then opening them in FMD locally and doing the maintenance. Then just reopen the files on the Server.

From the FMS ReadMe File:

Uninstalling FileMaker Server on Mac OS X. You must uninstall any other version of FileMaker Server 7 (Trial or Full version) present on your machine before installing this version. Please follow these steps to uninstall FileMaker Server 7 on the Mac:

Stop the FileMaker Server and FileMaker Server Helper daemons locally:

In FileMaker Server Admin, choose Server menu > Local FileMaker Server Administration.

Click the lock.

At the prompt, enter an OS-level user name and password. Note: The account must have administrative privileges.

Click Stop FileMaker Server.

Quit FileMaker Server Admin.

To remove the FileMaker Server Admin application and associated files, locate the Applications > FileMaker Server 7 folder and drag the entire folder to the Trash.

To remove the FileMaker Server daemons and associated files, locate the Library > FileMaker Server 7 folder and drag the entire folder to the Trash.

Important: If you wish to save any data files stored in the FileMaker Server 7 default location, locate the Library > FileMaker Server 7 > Data folder and move the files you wish to save to another location.

For additional information about uninstalling FileMaker Server 7 on the Mac, please refer to the TechInfo article located at www.filemaker.com/ti/109187.html.
