Updating the path of a media- field

Hello Filemaker- friends!

I’m working on a database administering documents, using filemaker 7.

The documents are contained in a Media- field. They are saved per reference.

My problem is, when I change the directory of the contained document i cannot open it with filemaker anymore.

So what can I do against this.
