We use FM5.5/6 at the moment

Quick question about the FM8 file format, is it the same format as FM7?

Will stick with filemaker 5.x/6 for a while yet though.

Does this mean my v7 to v8 upgrade will go off without any glitches?

It will be fine until you add new features found in v8 and try to access the DB with v7 clients...
