mgm75 Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 I was wondering if I could install server 7 on an xp laptop and used it as a server for testing purposes.
janedoe Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 hi, xp is not certified to run server 7, but it can work for 'testing' purposes. jd.
mgm75 Posted September 2, 2005 Author Posted September 2, 2005 Thanks. I set it up on a laptop. I can see the remote files when I open up FM7 on the laptop but I can't see them from any other computer. Anny suggestions.
stanley Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 MGM75: Make sure you're hosting over TCP/IP, and that the files are set as visible (which seems to be happening). Set the server for remote administration, and try the Admin tool from another machine. Can users see the server at all via FileMaker sharing? -Stanley
janedoe Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 hi, xp has a firewall installed by default. if you have this enabled, or any other firewall application enabled, make sure you open port 5003. that should do the trick. jd.
