Printing Error: pictwpstops - got an error closing the PSStream

I have started running into this strange printing problem from

FileMaker Pro (6.0v4) after I installed Security Update 2005-001.

Before the update, everything was working.

I use a *relatively simple* FileMaker database that contains, in print/view mode just a few text boxes and the text in them. When I print this to a HP LaserJet 1300n printer or Laserjet 4M, I get the following error from CUPS:

[Job ####] pictwpstops - got an error closing the PSStream

I've done searching on Google, Apple Discussions, MacFixIt Forums, FileMaker forums to no avail. While a few others seem to have the same problem, there doesn't seem to be any defintive solution.

There is a suggestion there is a problem with the PPD syntax. But no info. on how to resolve this.

This is a consistent, reproducible error, and I've not been able to print from FileMaker since. I've tried simplifying the fonts used down to one, and there are no graphics or other objects in the view. The document also fails to produce a PDF using Acrobat or Preview.

I have used the Printer Repair Utility to reset the printer system and check PPDs etc. as well as updated to OS X 10.4.2 to no avail. All other applications print fine.

Any solutions, suggestions or workarounds would be gratefully accepted as I have really hit a brick wall and desperately need to be able to print?

Have you tried one or any of the following:

1) Log in as the ROOT user and then try printing and/or reinstalling the print drivers.

2) Create a new user account and try printing from that account.

3) Manually delete ANY print options from Library and User/Library/ that you can find. Then print.

3) Reparing the disk permissions.

4) Try using a PPD from a similar HP model...I've read that sometimes this can side step a dodgy PPD at the cost of slightly reduced functionality.

5) Buy a new printer (HP are overpriced and overrated IMHO).

6) Edit the PPD file using Text Edit - we did this to our old imagesetter PPD to remove some annoying and silly page sizes but unless you know what the problem is you will end up looking at very complicated text document for no reason!)

7) Reinstall the Security Update.

8) Reinstall the 10.4.2 update - sometimes doing this AFTER a security update can correct the problem.

9) See Apples website for a precise list of what the security update did and see if its possible to revert back.

10) Buy a new printer (HP are overpriced and overrated IMHO). I know I said this already but it's worth mentioning twice.
