16 columns, how to print

Featured Replies

I have developed a database that keeps track of inventory. Every month I have to print out a full inventory list. They have to be in a table with headers.

I have tried to print it in FileMaker and I only get about 9 columns to fit. There are 16 columns that must print out. I have tried printing them to a PDF and samething,I only get about 9 columns.

The only thing that works is printing them out as a CSV and open in Excel. The problem though is the headers are not there and I have to adjust the columns.

Anyone have a suggestion?

Hello TaiChi56,

You say that you can only get 9 columns to fit, but you don't say why.

Presumably, since it seems you are able to print all 16 columns successfully when you export the data, the issue is one of column width and/or font size/spread.

That being the case, the obvious suggestions are to use a smaller font and/or a narrow font, to apply the font 'condense' attribute (available from the Format menu, via the Style submenu) and to make your columns narrower.

It's also possible that only 9 columns fit in portrait mode. You may have to print the report in landscape mode in order to get all the columns to fit and have a font that is readable.

Thank you. Condensing helped as well as landscape.
